  • Mood swings and emotional sensitivity

  • Mild cramping or spotting (which can be normal)

Baby’s Growth:

  • Formation of heart, brain, spinal cord
  • Heartbeat detectable by ultrasound around week 6–7
  • Facial features, limbs, and organs begin to develop

  • Facial features become more defined
  • Baby starts to move, hear, and even respond to your voice
  • Sex of the baby may be determined via ultrasound
  • Development of fine hair, nails, and fingerprints

  • Braxton Hicks contractions (false labour pains)
  • Difficulty sleeping or swelling in hands/feet
  • Emotional highs and lows as you anticipate birth

Baby’s Growth:

  • Rapid weight gain and development of fat layers
  • Maturing of lungs and brain
  • Baby turns head-down in preparation for birth
  • Responsive to sounds, light, and touch
